Prerace: had a nice bagel and banana before heading to the start line. Got there about 30 minutes early so I waited a while before warming up for about 5 minutes.

Race- 3, 2, 1, go! And there we went! My 2nd half marathon. got out pretty quick with Andrew, Alex, Kade, some older dude, and Jake. That group, by mile 3 or so, was taken down to just me, Andrew, Kade, and the older dude. Andrew and Kade fell off at mile 5ish (first 10k was 36 minutes according to the older guy). Him and I worked really well together and closed the gap on PI dude and Nick! By Sullivan Park (mile 7??) we were only meters behind! We stayed that way for a mile or so then I saw coach start to run with Nick. I quickly surged up there, with older guy and PI guy just meters behind. Coach really helped keep me focused. I knew I was sitting in 2nd because Aaron Metler was the only guy in front of our group, but I didn't let that get me nervous. Coach left us at the bottom of Majestic and I started to gap Nick a little bit, to the point where I was in great 2nd place position by the top! Nick had a killer last mile though and ended up catching me and gapping me by 14 seconds by the end. We left those older guys in the dust though! And I was able to come in 3rd overall! I have a giant check for 100 dollars, but unfortunately I could not accept the prize money, as I am a high school runner. I hate dumb rules! Pretty cool to have 2 PV guys in the top 3!! PR by like 10 minutes!!
