AM- 4 miles easy with the dudes. Pretty nice this morning. Running the 3200 later at the Hells. Can't wait cause all the Hells guys are doing it!

PM- Race. Did the 3200 at the Hells and that was pretty fun, although racing against those guys is so freaking weird. They like to start out slow and speed up every lap, which is not like how I like to run, which is even splits. We opened up in a 1:17! It was way too slow. I never really got into good position either. I ended up passing all of my teammates by the end, but the 4 Hells guys were in front of me. I was hoping to PR today, but I'll get it next time for sure. Gotta work on not being afraid to get up there and go with them. At least I know I can start with them. Gotta get prepared for the 1600 tomorrow!

BLOG BEAST OF THE DAY goes to Josh (Joshua Thatcher) from the Hells for winning the 3200 today. He's a beast runner and seems like a pretty kewl guy... Even though he hasn't blogged since July 2014....

AM- 4 miles easy. Gotta start getting the guys committed to coming and actually running every morning. It's getting annoying the lack of attendance in morning runs...

PM- Race. Got a few miles warmup and it was actually quite chilly this evening which was good! Went out and ran a 4:46 which I'm not exactly proud of, but it's better than last time so at least I'll have a faster time to enter into races with now. Plus I qualified for BYU (Herriman) haha! My problem with this race and also yesterday's race was just that I didn't put myself in position from the beginning. Gotta start being brave!

AM- 10 easy with Jake, Dallen, Andrew, and Cam. We met at Jake's then ran on the dirt road behind his house out to Shinob Kibe then we went to Sullivan park then we ran to Jake's neighborhood and finished there. Nice run, but I'm way tired!

Also this is the busiest I've ever seen St. George. Bluff St should be renamed Hell St, and St George Boulevard should be renamed St George Hellevard

PM- 4 miles easy Dirt Mile on my own. Really nice outside today! Larped with Landon, my bro, afterwards and I slayed him.

PM- 7 w/15min Tempo. Was hoping to get more in, but I was so dang tired. Didn't wake up early enough to go so I pushed running aside until the evening which always scares the heck out of me! Just went down up past the freeway onto the back road and down FireStation, out into Greensprings. made it an out and back. Struggled on the tempo, but hey we all have off days: which is the whole reason we have on days!

Happy Easter 0 miles today. Good day to reflect upon the resurrection of our savior. Festivities included watching conference, going to grandma's house, getting what is probably AA's number (I'll keep you posted), and watching Meet the Mormons. Ate way too much chocolate which gives my uh-huh the uh-uhs. Hope it won't kill me in the workout tomorrow.

AM- 2 mile warmup, 4x1600@2x91%, 2x93%, 2x300@F, cool to 60 minutes. Really tough workout, but debatebly my best workout ever. All 4 of these were with Definition Dallen, Jake the Snake, BicMitchem and Alex the Lion, but Dallen and I were the ones leading this workout. First one was a 5:14 (right on 91%), and I was already getting sidestitches. I prayed for forgiveness for all the candy I ate yesterday. Must have worked because I felt great the rest of the workout. Went 5:14 again for the next one. Then we had to do 93% for the last 2 which I haven't even attempted yet in a workout so I was a little wary. Dallen and I switched lead for each lap and that workoed out great. 5:07 (right on 93%). The last one, we came by 800 at 2:31 and so I knew we had it in the bag. Pushed a hard last 200 to a 5:06. My legs haven't felt this beat since the long hill at XC camp last summer! 300s were both :45 (maybe :44 for the second, didn't watch it). Hard to believe 5:18s felt all-out a few weeks ago!

PM- 4 easy Dirt Mile again. Nice peaceful, not even hot, run. It did get a little windy by the end, which I didn't even mind much. Got out kind of early (like 2). Legs were tired from this morning.

BLOG BEAST OF THE DAY goes to Strrt because I just barely found out he's diabetic and asthmatic. Still a freaking beast runner. Dang those Lehi guys are dope!

AM- 4 miles easy. Pretty chipper this morning, but my core tank sufficed. Also we found a boomerang on the street! And it really works!

PM- 8 miles w/3x(2:00h, 1:00r, 1:00h, :30r, :30h). My legs are still a little dead from Monday and yesterday, but these really were within my limits and it actually felt good to get going pretty speedy. Our guys are looking strong! Our last 1:00 hard especially was pretty dang impressive. Running the 1600 this weekend at DHells. Gonna go kill it! For some reason, everytime I visualize it, I visualize it on Dixie's track and I have to correct myself.

Some hardcore weights afterwards.

BLOG BEAST OF THE DAY goes to Dave Olson today for his legitimateness. He's a beast and is pretty entertaining to read.

AM- 4 miles easy Starbucks. Had a swell time. Are we human? Or are we dancers?

PM- 45 minutes easy w/4x200s after. Dope Run! We were going to just do the regular shoe run, but the city guys kicked us off of the public city trail because they had "equipment" if you know what I mean. So instead we took our shoes off and ran in the river for a little bit and found a DEAD BEAVER. It was so dope. Also we dropped a broken Minecraft sword off at the Elsworth's. Feeling pretty fresh for the race tomorrow! My goal is to put myself into position from the beginning.

LIVE UPDATE: Mom just asked Dad if he was ready to "get it over with". Not sure what that means, but I'd love to hear your inputs.

AM- 4 miles easy

PM- 1600 at the Hells. Worst race of my career. I don't know how this happens when I do everything right! I never miss practice, I go to bed at a reasonable hour, I run workouts spot on, I eat healthy (especially the day of the race), I get mentally prepared beforehand, I hydrate. There's nothing I can think of that's missing from that list. I just feel like ive been constantly letting the team down.

Did some warmup with the guys along with a full-on run after the 3200. Had a pretty hard time last night after the awful 1600, just reflecting on what happens in my races when I do bad and I couldn't think of anything. Recieved good advice from Holt and also some stuff from coach Blair from SC and Fielding from DH. The race today was better than yesterday and that's a step in the right direction. This was just a bad ending to a frankly amazing week of workouts. Just gotta change my perspective of the race. Change it from something that gives me stress to something that puts me in the eye of the tiger! I am in no way the best racer in region 9, but I'm not going to stop trying to get there, and just maybe I'll figure it out one of these days. Just gotta keep on keeping on. It happens.

AM- 4 miles easy Starbucks. Felt really warm this morning and my long sleeve was sweaty after. I hate heat.

PM- 2 miles warm, 1x1000@goal 1600 pace, 7x400@current 1600 pace w/1:00 recovery, cool to 60 minutes, felt really so freaking hot today, but I had prepared myself to run pretty quick and I pushed myself hard despite the heat. My 1000 was 2:48. Went out pretty fast on the first 400 (like 1:05), stuck in behind Andrew until there were 400 meters left and then just went ALL TO THE WALL the last 400. Actually a 1000 PR, but I never run it anyways haha. and my 400s were all around 1:10 or 1:11, last one 1:08. Was able to make it through hitting all of my times. My throat hurts like a motha cussa though! Got another workout tomorrow and also one on Wednesday so that's going to be fun.

AM- 4 miles easy Sunrise. Felt so dang warm this morning! Last night, my knee started absolutely bugging me, hard to sleep. Woke up this morning and it hurt even more, decided to run on it and now it hurts when I walk or even move my leg. Hopefully this isn't anything big. It's just really annoying

PM- 2 mile warm around DI, Coe#1or1x(100,110,120,130,140,150,160,170,180,190,200), cool to 45 minutes. This is a workout founded by Sir Sebastian Coe back in the days of Moses, when the only olympic event was sprinting from the dinosaurs. It's pretty much just used to sharpen our speed as it nears time to taper. We start easy peasy at 1600 pace on the 100, then speed up on each one until we are all out 400 pace on the 200. My 100 was 17.5, but then my 200 was high 28. The workout is not necessarily hard, but it gets the legs moving for sure. Still kind of winded from yesterdays workout though. Knee still hurts, but didn't bug me during the workout, I cannot tell a lie.

BLOG BEAST OF THE DAY goes to the freaking high windspeeds in St. George today. JV meet at Hurricane was cancelled because of it. Luckily our workout was with the wind and not against.

AM- Morning Workout!! 1.5 warm, 6x800@goal3200(2:28), cool to 52ish minutes. The team got together for a morning workout today because we won't have time in the afternoon to get one in because of the elementary meet. It was still a little windy out and it was chipper out there, so I'd say give or take a second or 2. Ran 2:30 for the first 4, 2:28, then 2:27. These weren't impossibly hard, but my legs are tired from the workouts yesterday and Monday. It was doable today. Not a bad workout!

AM- 4 miles easy Starbucks! Pretty nice run this morning. They're putting a fence in by the cliff so the guys can no longer threaten to push me down.

PM- 6 miles easy w/4x200s. Pretty fun run today. We decided to do the shoe run and ended up finding some not quite as cool objects as usual. We did, however, find a cow bone out in Sandbergs! So that was cool.

BLOG BEAST OF THE DAY goes to Collin Morrison. Yet another Lehi guy is on the blog. There just might be more of them than frequent PV guys on here now. Also they're all decently fast!

Dixie 3200 Race Preview! So this year, it's looking to be a pretty good race. As of right now, there are 7 sub-10 guys signed up, along with Sage Ducote, who ran a 9:44 in AZ. We have Ben Keller, Hellen Keller's brother, from Ogden. Region 9 track is being represented greatly, with a total of 30 region 9 runners and only 9 from other regions. All inserted times are legitimate, with the exception of Nephi Eschler, 9:45. Also we have Joe Bradshaw from Parowan, who used to go to Washington Elementary with me and my main man Paul. I'm going out to PR on Saturday and boost my confidence with my running. Luckily I have all of these fast guys in the race to help push me to my limits. Gonna get some more PV state qualifiers! Jake, Mitch, Andrew, and Dallen all have a legitimate chance! I'm rooting for those guys.

AM- 4 miles easy Starbucks. Pretty cool run and I was feeling really good.

PM- 7 miles off and on at the meet. Our guys all looked strong in the 1600, no more qualifiers yet though. Nick and Paul killed the 400 and went 1, 2 in their heat. I pretty much just warmed up with the guys, ran as they were prepping/racing, and then cooled down with them until I had 50 minutes. Got some striders in afterwards and I felt strong on those which is a really good sign for tomorrow. 3200 BABY!!

RACE- Warmed up quite a bit on the track before the girl's heats started, then ran a bunch on the turf. Got myself prepared to run fast, then we started the race. I was seeded 4 going into it and that's how I finished. Not a PR, but it was my second fastest ever. The first mile was pretty chill and I was with the rest of the PV guys as well as Sage from DH, Jaiden, Josh, Bronco, and Spencer were all ahead of us. I caught up to Spencer with a surge and he would not give up the whole rest of the race. It was a battle. We passed Bronco lap 6 and we were just making great progress. The last lap, however, he outfought me and got me by 2 seconds. Sage from DH was just right behind me. Pretty good race with some good things to take out of it. Still no more PV state qualifiers for guys, but they're all so dang close. This was a good day, but I'm going to be able to run it even faster come championship time. I CANT WAIT FOR STATE

BLOG BEAST OF THE DAY goes to Alli Peterson because she's pretty dope and blogged for the first time in like a year yesterday. One of PV's fastest girls and she's only getting better.

AM- 4 easy Sunrise. Took it a little easier today because coach was feeling sick and we had to leave him behind ;)

PM- 2 miles warm, 3x1600@93%, 2x300@F, 10 minutes cool. Had a late lunch today because of early out at school. REALLY messed up my stomach and insides were killing the whole warmup, I could barely breathe. So I said a prayer when we got back that I would have the strength to run the workout. Our goal for the day was 3 5:01s. It was some sort of miracle, but I started out great and hit the time right on: 5:01. The next one, I was really considering a forced puke, but decided against it. Went out pretty well, but crossed the first 800 too slow like 2:35, then finished 5:11 way off, but still WAY faster than I thought I would be able to today with the way I was feeling. Coach told us to only go as long as we can stay on pace on the last one and I made it 1200 meters when I was 2 seconds off: 3:47. I might have been able to actually hit it, but idk I was too tired to care haha! I consider this workout a success, and I ran pretty quick times, just not quite where I was aiming. Step in the right direction. 300s were faster than usual too! :44s.

AM- 4 miles easy Sunrise. Coach was feeling sick again today so it was just us guys. Glad they're putting a fence up by the cliff so I have no fear of being pushed down :)

PM- got to practice and did warmups and then coach had a sick surprise for everyone who has qualified for state: a dope PV track duffel! It makes it all worth it;)

2 miles warm, 10x400s@68-69seconds w/decreasing recovery (2:00 for the first 3, 1:30 for the second 4, 1:00 for the last 3. Gotta say, my legs were not feeling very great, but I was still able to hit 68s and 69s the whole time. Never went under or over. Took me a while to get into it, but the legs started getting into it by the end. The decreasing recovery was killer. Excited to run the 1600 this weekend at SC and finally get myself a solid time.

AM- 4 miles easy usual route. It was a very nice time having coach with us this morning. I was accused of being a full-blown racist afterwards so that was kewl.

PM- 60 minutes EASY w/striders. Drove to Highland park to help out the Running Center deliver flyers about the Southern Utah Half coming up to all the houses on the ridge. That was pretty fun, then we ran up on the ridge forever, out on the far side as well as to the water tower, then we went to the park and got a barefoot mile in, then we did some barefoot striders. Pretty fun day today. I have to kiss a girl before Jake. Or at least before the summer is over. This time it's going to actually work... Last time was a wreck.

On a seperate note, I've been thinking a lot about the spiritual aspect of running lately. I'm well aware of the physical and mental parts, but just recently I have started thinking about how it touches my soul and how I use it to come closer to God (k maybe not in a lot of easy runs like today, but I definitely do in races and workouts). Thought about Phillippeans 4:13 that says I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. I think this includes things like running PRs and pushing through tough workouts and stuff like that. And the spiritual aspect doesn't even have to be religious. It can effect your feelings and your morals and really just everything about you. Dang.

AM- 1.5 warm, Coe 2, cool to 45 minutes. Coe 2 is a progressive workout where you start at mile pace on the first rep and end with 400 pace on the last rep. The reps are (in meters) 200, 220, 240, 260, 280,300. I went :34, :36, :38, :39, :42, :44. My legs felt particularly nice this morning and it didn't feel like it was very killer. Hit my times right on and am ready for the 1600 tomorrow! Afterwards, as we were going to cool down, I banged my shin and it hurt like a motha. And now it still hurts like a motha.

PM- 4 miles easy w/4x200s (33,32,31,32). Prerace today and it was a pretty standard run. Now gotta get ready to run fast tomorrow

AM-4 miles easy with a few of the guys and coach. Felt really nice this morning, although my shin is still hurt from when I banged it yesterday. I have the 1600 this afternoon and it is extremely unlikely I'm in the fast heat so my goal today is to run a time worthy of being fast heat.

Race- got out too slow, but never fought the whole race. Coach doesn't want me to run anything but the 3200 for the rest of the year

7 miles easy at the meet. Some really nice performances today from out team :) no more 3200 state qualifiers, but Alex was half a second away! Dallen was a couple seconds behind him. Ugh they're that close!! 4x400 team qualified for state and won the meet. It was really a fun time despite the freezing wind and rain.

On the girl's side, Ellie qualified for state in the 3200 and Alli P had a strong performance in the 800 :) she's so fast!

AM- 20 minutes easy. Starting to cut down mileage a lot this week so we're doing 20 minutes instead of 30 in the mornings. We are not going to BYU Invite this year, which was my favorite meet last year, but we're going to Herriman instead, which should be fun! Twilight meet:)

PM- 1.5 warm, kosmin, 1x(300, 200, 100), 10 minute cooldown. Pretty fast day today and the kosmin went okay up until the end. For those of you who don't know what the kosmin is, it is an anaerobic workout where you go all out for 1 minute, rest 3, all out 1, rest 2, all out 1, rest 1, all out 1. You take your total distance that you make it in those four minutes of time and plug it into some equation. you can use that to find out what mile time you should base your workouts off of. I did great the first 2 minutes, making it about 800 meters, but the shortened recovery killed me on the last 2 and especially the 4th one. Ended at 1511m, which isn't too bad, but my last minute was unacceptable. We then had a F pace 300, 200 and 100. I hit :44, :28.06, and :13.9.

Wishing the bro Connor Baller a happy birthday!

AM- 20 minutes easy Arby's. Felt nice this morning and had a pretty good turnout. Won't be able to go to watch the JV meet because of a concert, but oh well.. It happens.

PM- 40 minutes w/4x60sec F. Felt nice to get in some more F paced work. today was just me and Jason, seeing as how everyone else went up to the meet. Was nice to talk with good ole J-Word Jason about crap and stuff, and it was fun running a workout with just him... Seeing as how I don't get to run workouts with him very often because he does the 800 workouts. We did these really hard and helped push each other very well. Near the end of the run, Abrie Taylor drove by and yelled out the window how hawt we are and fast and good looking and cute. She's a freaking babe. I wouldn't mind taking her out for some pizza... (I have a free Little Caeser's pizza coupon, no purchase necassary, that Wes Swaney gave me at the track meet at Snow Canyon... What a guy!)

Excited for Herriman this week. Gonna go throw down a 3200 faster than I've ever gone before. That one dude from Bear River will be there as well as a bunch of guys from 4A and 5A schools so it should be good. I'll be right in the mix.

AM- 20 minutes easy AC route. Nice this morning, although I was apparently late, because we started practice at 6:29 instead of 6:30... I didn't get the memo. So Cam Mitch and I just ran until the other guys turned around and we finished with them. Gotta start feeling more love on the team!

PM- 30 minues easy Green Springs route. Took it nice and easy today. Extremely hot temperatures. Then I helped with the shot put at the kid's meet afterwards. It was a fun time. I chucked the 3lbs shot pretty dang far! ... Still not as far as that beast Herriman dude who throws over 62 in the shot put... With a real man's ball... Oh well.

Pr'd today in the BM so that was really cool. Probably a school record.

PM- 45 minutes w/4x30sec fartleks. It was SO FREAKING HOT today and I wanted to sweat a lot so I did. Umm... We went Sandbergs and did our fartleks around the pond. I was feeling strong on them. Herriman is tomorrow!! Ready to go out and run the race.
