AM- 3 miles easy AC route. My leg was hurting me a little bit, but other than that, it was a very nice easy run.

PM- .5 warm, 1 warm, Michigan, 1 cool. I did not run good in this workout. I did nothing right. I had told myself before that I was going to ease into it and finish strong, but as always, I went out faster than I should have. I went with Andrew, Logan, and the rest of them. I feel like I should be at their level with how hard I've been working, but all of my results say otherwise. Starting to wonder if I'm ever even going to have a chance to run varsity. Finished at around 28:00. Got beat by tons of people who I beat last time. I deproved since last time. Goals: get more hydrated, get mentally tough, and run my guts out at Cedar and prove to myself that I'm a better runner than I've been showing.

AM- 3 miles easy AC route. Left shin hurting me today and I'm exhausted from the Mighigan yesterday. Other than that, it was pretty easy.

PM- .5 warm, 2 easy, 4x400 R, 1 easy, 4xhillsprints, 4x100 sprints. Came into it feeling like I was going to die, but I felt pretty good on this workout! My 400s were strong for not all out. Hit 1:18, 1:16, 1:15, 1:10. I'm just glad I improved on each one. On the hills, I hit around 15 seconds for all of those. 100m sprints hit high 14s on all of them. Pretty consistent workout for me today. Did it all with Cam and Andrew. Hit the weight room afterwards.

AM- 3 miles easy AC route. We went a littl faster today than usual, but it still felt pretty good. Had coach's motivational talk afterwards.

PM- .37 warm, 3 miles easy, 4x200s (equal recovery), .38 cool. Could not make it to practice today because of an orthodontist appointment so I just ran when I got home. Ran up to the dirt mile, did 3 loops, then I tried to divide the loop into 8 equal parts for the 200s and I think it was pretty accurate. Felt good today, but my shin started acting up on the 200s. Ran back down to my house.

AM- 3 miles easy. Not very many guys there this morning. Felt good and pretty easy.

Cedar Invitational- warmed up 1.5 miles and headed to the start line. I didn't even line up at the front for the fear of starting out too fast so we started and I was going a nice pace that I knew I would be able to hold for the whole race. I was with Cam for about the whole first lap at around maybe top 10-15 (place) and then I realized that I was feeling really good! I started to speed up a bit and passed quite a few guys. I fought my way to 4th place by the steep downhill and I made my mind up that I would fight for 3rd, but Sage (3rd at the time) was pretty far ahead of me. I tried really hard to catch him and did by the time there was 800ish meters left and we fought and fought for that 3rd place spot all the way to the end, where I barely out sprinted him and took the spot behind Reed. This has definitely been my best race ever! Ran a Pr of 16:54.5. I beat Byron's Sophomore time on the same course, which is promising! Got my first medal ever and our JV team killed! Cooled down with Cam about 1.5 miles.

.25 prewarm, 1 warm, 3x(2 min H, 1 min E, 1 min H, 30 sec E, 30 sec H, 30 sec E) I'm calling it around 4.75. Ran up to the infamous Dirt Mile (my home course that I'm pretty much the master of) to do my workout all alone. This was probably one of the hardest Saturday workouts I've ever done. On my first set, i started at the Devil's Start Line. I made it a goal to finish a whole lap (did not end up happening...) and ended at the Glittery Sands of Doom (.8 on the loop) and did a little better on my second one surprisingly and made it just past Death Desert (.6 on the loop) and did my last one alright and finished at around the Pole of Destruction. Cooled down 1 mile.

PM- .5 prewarm, 1.5 warm, almost all-out mile, 1.5 cool. Felt pretty good today and ran the mile somewhat strong at a 5:02. I was kind of hoping to break 5 today but this was super great either way! It is a 30 second PR since the last time I ran a mile on the track. I treated it like a race and tried to win, but Josh came up at the end a beat me. Feel really good about this track season because of this. A lot of us were within 5 seconds of each other. In other business, I got athlete of the week today which was super cool! I don't think I deserved all the praise coach gave me because it was just 1 good race, but it was way awesome to get presented with such a high honor. We're taking our mileage way down this week for region next week and we have no weights or morning runs this week.

PE- Ran the 'timed' mile in PE today so I'm adding a mile for that.

PM- .5 warm, 4 miles easy, 4x200s. Ran Sandberg's Pond with the lvl 2 guys today. Even though we were going somewhat quick on this run, everyone kept up. It was really cool. Felt really tired and dehydrated today. Did alright on the 200s and they were pretty consistent.

Snow Canyon Invitational- Warmed up pretty good and felt like it was the perfect amount at around 1.75ish. Started the race and tried to stick with our top guys for the first mile which I did, but unfortunately I started to fall off. It felt like I had pulled something in my hip-flexer or something because that area just hurt so bad! Anyways I went from 4th on the team back to 6th by the end, but I did end up beating DHs 4th guy so that's good. I think I started out a little faster than I should have and I should have just stayed relaxed the first bit so I could pull another Cedar, but I ended up doing okay at this meet. I finished just barely in front of Sunshine and a second or 2 behind Cam. I'll use this as a learning experience so that I can do better at region. Not sure my place or time yet so I just guessed ??? Cooled down a little less than 1.5.

PM- 4 miles E, 4x400 R pace w/equal recovery. Perfect pace on the 4 miles. I don't know what it was, but it was perfect. My 400s were not all out, but started at race pace and got a little faster. My times were 1:13, 1:12, 1:10, and 1:06.

AM- 1 warm, 1.5 Tempo, 2xMasterBlasters, 1 cool. Felt super great on the tempo! We flew with an 8:17 for the 1.5!! It was pretty easy surprisingly. Master Blasters were really hard! My team was me, Cam and Andrew. We led the workout on both of the sets which was pretty cool. Really tough and fast. 1 mile cool.

AM- 3 miles w/3 Fartleks. Me and Cam took the initiative to invite a bunch of us JV guys to run with us for the Saturday run, but the only people who actually showed up was Cam, Andrew, Jake B, and me. We ran from Wash. Elementary to Maverick and our Fartleks were 30 sec, 1 min, 30 sec. Felt pretty good today and ran the run with ease. Legs felt a little heavy today.

PM- .5 warm, 3 miles easy, 4x200 hard. Felt mediochre today on my run, but that's how I always feel on mondays. Had a hard time breathing on the 200s... In fact, I had a hard time on the 200s altogether. Had a speaker come and talk to us after practice and she gave me lots of good ideas.

I want to wish everyone running region tomorrow good luck. I'm going to be running my very best race so that PV can take the JV team title. I checked the weather forecast and it looks as though there's a 0% chance of Thunder!

Race- 2 miles warm, 5k, 4.5 miles cool. 18:52 and 23rd. I felt like I prepared really well for this day, but it didn't turn out as I expected. I had started out way too slow at the beginning and just could not fight my way to the top almost costing our team the win. Luckily some of our other guys really stepped it up. Ran about 30 seconds slower than D in the D. I'm kind of really disappointed on the outcome but there's always next time. On the plus side, we won Region and that's what my goal was.

PM- .5 warm, 6 miles easy Foremaster Loop. Last night I got maybe 4 hours total of sleep because I just could not fall asleep. I thought doing the Foremaster Loop would kill me today, but it was surprisingly nice and easy the whole time until the last half mile where we always seem to speed up. Felt good overall today.

AM- 2 miles warm, all-out mile, 2 miles cool. I hit a 5:06. I really ended slowing down a bit on my third lap because I crossed the second at a 2:29. It's alright because it's still a lot faster time than last year. I didn't have the same group as last time when I ran a 5:01 it was just Krenny right behind me. Coach gave me some tips afterwards and I think that will really help me next time I run a mile.

AM- 1.5 warm, 1200m, 1000m, 800m, 600m, 400m, 1.5 cool. Not my best workout in the world probably due to my lack of sleep last night. I stayed where I am usually on the 1200, 1000, and 600, but my 800 (mostly) and 400 were pretty poor. It was a nice hard push and it really hit me hard!

Night Run- 5 miles easy Neon Spider w/4xFartleks. Not a good idea to go to Neon Spider at night! It was so freaky and dark! Met up with Skylar, Cam, Jake, Jake, and Andrew and we did our Fartleks before the cave and we did 30 seconds (minute rest), 1 minute (minute rest), 1:30 (1:30 rest), 30 seconds. They were nice and hard and I felt really good and we all kept up. When we got to the tunnel. Jake B wimped out and turned around which concerned me (him going off on his own), but we ventured on. Nice adventure because Andrew and Skylar have never been there. Feet got soaked.

PM- .5 mile warm, 2.5 mile Scavenger hunt. For practice today, we had to go around the area and find a bunch of things on a list. The team who found the most things and made it back first would win. I got 2nd place to Paul's team. Glad we're doing some fun things this week! The scavenger hunt was way fun and my team did super great.

AM- 3 miles easy AC route. Started up morning runs again today. Byron was late today (which means so was Matt, Dave, Bryan and me). Me and Byron ran UB pace to try to catch up to the team and finally did around the 1.5 mile mark. It was like a faster pace tempo. Bryan chilled at a swag pace and fell behind dramatically... That's what you get for going swag pace. Matt went regular pace and stayed a good way behind the main group. Dave did not run. Paul was there as well as Andrew, Krenny, Coach, Jake, and others. Cam did not run. Speaking of Cam, he got a haircut last week. Nick was righteous and read scriptures before he came. Jake Taylor drove to the run. Andrew is still a redhead. Abel forgot to bring Skylar today and he borrowed spandex from Mia and wore it this morning. :) Jason, Josh or Josh, Jared, Skylar, Chandler, Kyler, Reed, ALL THE FRESHMEN, Trent, and a lot of girls did NOT show up this morning.

PM- .5 prewarm, 1.5 warm, 4x1200 repeats w/recovery, 1.5 cool. Sucked it up in this workout today running a 3:57 on the first 1200 and then got in at around 4:20-4:25 on all the rest. First one killed me, but I did stick with Byron and Abel which was cool (they were running 1600). Felt nauseous from the 2nd one till the end and there were strong winds on the last 2.

AM- 3 miles easy AC route. Felt good this morning. Byron and I only had to go UB pace for about 200m to catch up cause we were late.

PM- .5 warm, 7 miles easy Green Springs. Felt super great and easy on this run. This is the farthest I have ever gone into Green Springs. The only drawback today was that my legs were killing me by the end. Hopefully they don't hurt this much tomorrow on the Michigan.

AM- 3 miles easy AC route. Felt good and it was a good easy pace. Legs still hurt from yesterday. Hopefully I can fix it by this afternoon for the michigan.

PM- .5 prewarm, 1.5 warm, 4.25 Michigan, 1.5 cool. Felt awful going into this run, but did surprisingly well with a PR of 26:30. I started out a little slow I think and stayed with Krenny the whole first half of the workout but then I started to speed up and ran on my own for the rest. Pretty uneventful Michigan for me personally. I have decided that I am no longer wimpy, slow, lame Preston and am now the fast, strong, cool Preston. "Be miserable. Or motivate yourself.
