AM- 3 miles easy AC route. Felt good this morning in our nice easy pace and it wasn't even very cold this morning. But that just meant that it was warm in the afternoon... Yuck.

PM- .5 prewarm, 1.5 warm, 3x1200 w/recovery, 1.5 cool. Went in to this feeling super great (except I think I'm developing a headcold because I was super congested) and I did pretty good on my first one with a 3:59. It really took the wind out of me, but I was feeling a little less pooped out by the end of the recovery and I really slowed down on the second one and came in with a 4:11. All that was in my head on the last one was just to improve from that horrid time. Coach told us to focus more on the second half of these and that's what I wanted to do so I purposefully held back a little on the first half of my last one and I really took off on the last half. I was with Jason and he was pushing to keep with me, but I am a really stubborn runner when I really want something. I started to push away from him at about the baseball field and caught Krenny and ended up gapping them by 7 seconds by the end! Last one was a 4:07.

AM- 3 miles easy AC. Getting too speedy in the mornings it feels like.

PM- .5 warm, 5 miles easy, 8xstriders. Felt good today except I ate a lot of ice cream during lunch and it gave me a side ache.

AM- 3 miles easy AC route. We went pretty fast this morning, but I was feeling good.

PM- .5 warm, 4 miles easy, 4x200. We went a nice pace on the 4 miles, but for some reason I was struggling. My legs felt so heavy and I was tired and it just felt hard. I feel like I have not been improving in my running since the beginning of the season despite my commitment, but I'm going to keep working my heart out and see what happens. I did alright on the 200s, but took the recovery a bit slower than the other guys.

AM- 3 miles AC route. Good run this morning with the guys.

PM- .5 warm, 2 warm, 2 mile time trial, 2 cool. Time: 12:15. Worst. Race. Ever. I keep having to say that about all my races lately because they just keep getting worse and worse. Hopefully it's just a phase. I felt like I was going all out on this race, but I know I could go faster because I have before. Even mini Thatcher beat me! I just could not get my legs going! Definitely can only get better from here.

AM- 3 miles easy AC route. Felt good this morning. Was late with Matt and Dave so I just ran with them.

PM- 1.5 warm, 5x400s hard w/full recovery, 1.5 cool. Forgot I had an orthodontist appointment so ran on my own after it. Let me just say that it is so hard to motivate yourself to run fast on these workouts by yourself. Ran a few laps around the block then ran to Washington Elementary and used their "track". Coach said that one lap was just short of a 400 so I added a little on each lap. My times were super surprisingly good for me! I hit 1:09, 1:08, 1:06, 1:05, 1:05 On the Washington Track!! Sure I might have been just a little off on the distance, but this is the first time in a long time I got better on each repeat! I think the reason I did so good was because there were some little kids playing on the playground cheering me on... Just goes to show that you can do anything if you want to impress little kids.

5.5 miles with 1 tempo. I was going to run today with Cam and Andrew but I woke up too late and we didn't even set up a place to meet.

Anyways, I decided before the run that I was going to do some of the Grapevine trail with a few dirt miles thrown in, but it didn't end up that way; I combined 4 of our infamous summer routes into one! I went up to the dirt mile and ran the north side of it and went past Maverick onto Grapevine. I ran as far onto Grapevine as I could before crying because how scary it is and started my tempo on the way back from Grapevine until the Parkway hill (down) and then I found a nice little trail on the side of Parkway Hill that was the much safer (and funner) alternative. Ran the tempo in a 6:15 (I had planned on doing 2 miles, but I felt gross). Then I turned onto Telegraph and got quite a number of whistles and honks ;) ran down until I got to Scenic Drive, famous for having the most unrelatable name ever, then ran home. Legs felt great, insides did not.
