So I'm gonna try to get back into blogging on here (as well as regular week reports) because I like getting comments every once and a while and it's nice to look at other runner's progress as well.

AM- regular morning route. Can't believe how natural it is for me to run about 4 miles every morning when I think about where I was 3 years ago. What an amazing program.

PM- Chill AT tempo on the track. First time ever doing a tempo on the track and I gotta say it wasn't my favorite, but it wasn't bad. We started the first 3 minutes slow but then we took the pace up quick (maybe a little too quickly) and it ended up good for an AT at about 5:40. Only 15 minutes. 2 mile warm with about a 1.5 cool.

PM- Ice House. 60 min. Not that tough really. The hard part was just not falling on my face on the way down.

AM- 55ish minutes with 1x7 min LT and 1x6 min LT. I was gonna do 8 then 7, but I wasn't really feeling it. I did pretty good on both but was still about 7 seconds average slow. (5:23 goal, 5:30 pace) after that I was gonna run the rest with BLO but I got stood up. So I ran the rest on grapevine and then back home. Quads feel sore.

AM- Nice and easy 4 miles. Good run and fun with all the guys. Felt good.

PM- 2 warm, 1 cool, 4x1600s (Goal: 5:35. Actual: 5:35, 5:34, 5:32, 5:22), 2x300s (Goal: :44. Actual: :46 :47). Nice 1600s second one, my right quad had some sharp pains and bugged me, but it didn't effect the outcome of the workout. Hit my times well and felt strong on the last one. Really was not all that tough and worked with Jason pretty well taking turns every 200. Felt more like LT intervals than reps. 300s were a little slow but I still haven't gone to my full potential yet. I'm going sub 44 next time. They're tough after the 1600s.

decided I'm state qualifying in the 3200 AND 1600 this year. I know I've got it in me. Just gotta work hard and go balls to the wall when the time comes.

AM- no morning practice on Tuesday and Thursday this week.

PM- Temple Quarry. 7 miles easy. Felt good. This trail is definitely Chiva terrain! Nice easy rest day between workouts. No quad probs today.

AM- ugh slept in. I'll try to get an AM tomorrow.

PM- 18 min AT (>3.1 miles) and 50 minutes total today. Did this on the track which I loath. But we were able to have a strong group the whole time. We had Paul and Nick up front and then Dallen, Andrew, Jake and I (Jason, Skylar, Cam and Alex stopped at 15 but looked strong) I almost fell off them on the 8th lap or so but then I caught right back up cause there's no way I'm failing an AT TEMPO lol. Wasn't easy, and I didn't feel smooth, but it was doable for today. Nice group of 9 the first 15 minutes. Loving it.

AM- 4 easy 6:30 am out past Hell Hole. 30 mins. Pretty boring cold run. Nice with no cars on the road tho. Shouldn't have missed yesterday morning!

PM- 4x800 Old Man Hills. Did alright on these and focused on finishing fast. My last one was a 2:35 (I think it was my fastest) but all the rest were good too. These are killer.

No way my Launches don't have over 800 miles by now (seeing as I haven't blogged in FOREVER). Thinking of retirement of these bad boys but I love em so much!

AM- nice and easy with the guys. Normal morning run to the strip mall.

PM- 2 warm, 1.5 cool, 4x1600s 85% (goal: 5:34 actual: 5:32, 5:34, 5:28, 5:22), 2x300s (goal: 0:44 actual: 0:44, 0:44) weights afterwards. I did pretty decent today. 3rd 85% week in a row and I've hit every single rep. Should be moving up to 87% next week. First one I had Jason to help me, but he was feeling eh today so he dropped out on the rest. Pretty much ran it all on my own (except the first laps) with the exception of Andrew being on my tail for most of the time. I've never been able to hit my times so consistently and so "easily" (not that it's easy, it's just not killer like I'm used to). 300s were solid. Coach said last week that if I wanna be a state 3200 guy that I'm going to have to get some speed and run :44s! Last week I hit :46s which was disappointing so my whole goal today was :44s on these and I did it. Pretty tough day on the track!

AM- none today seeing as we are only going 3 times this week. We'll get everyday in next week.

PM- Trail Run Tuesday and Beast and Feast. We went to the trails out past pioneer park and got about 8 miles. Felt nice but my legs are feeling kinda tight. It was a fun run still :)

during most of the run, I kept thinking about the 3200 and visualizing myself running it. I know for a fact I can state qualify and then even place at state! Just gotta keep working my hardest, running my best, and not be lazy. I want it more than I want pretty much anything. Can't wait to see what I can do this season.

AM- 4 easy normal route 6:15 am. Pretty normal. My legs are kinda dead. Hopefully I'll be able to hold up in the AT tempo this afternoon. I loathe track tempos! I'm sorry coach! But idk. I can keep up just fine at least these last couple weeks so it shouldn't be too killer.

PM- 18 minute tempo. Felt quite a bit of tension in my quads today, but still managed about 5:40 for the 18 minutes.

AM- 4 easy

PM- 8 total. Old man hills! 2x800, 4x400. These were tough but I did well! Out first 2 800s were faster than all of last week's. And then on the 400s I finished 1st, 2nd, 1st, and 1st for the 1600 and 3200 guys. Prolly wouldn't have been of Nick was still healthy :/ but we did great without him!

AM- 4 easy on the usual route. Pretty calm this morning. Talked about some of the success I had with Megan on Saturday ;)

PM- 8.5 total, 4x1600s @87% (goal: 5:27), 2x300s (goal: 0:44). Great day out on the track today! My side was feeling melancholy, and I was feeling kinda cruddy going into this, but I decided to take my feelings out on the track and hit my 4th good 1600 workout in a row. Jason, my buddy who ran the same Kosmin, went in and out on this workout because of hip issues. I went 5:28 (with Jason), 5:28 (1st half with Jason), 5:26 (no Jason), and 5:16 (2nd half with Jason). Last one was fast with even 2:38 800 splits. Last 2 were the ones where I had killer sideaches and I still managed to throw down on the times.

300s were the real goal and I hit :44s on both again today! That means next week I gotta go :43 or I'll become like one of those guys who never breaks 5 in the mile, but always gets so close!

AM- 4 miles easy. Starbucks. Nice and refreshing run.

PM- 2 miles warm, 25 min AT tempo (5:47 ave) on the track, cooled to 55 minutes. Felt good on this until the start of one lap in particular: going into about 18 or 20 minutes, I was starting to side cramp up and suddenly Mitch or somebody takes the lead out hardcore on a big surge that I wasn't ready for. Stuck in there though just about 10 meters behind the whole rest of the tempo. I LOATHE track tempos. I like river trail tempos :P I'd like to apologize about being a pace vulture though. I just hate surges unless I'm the one throwing them in ;)

Started the morning off dumb when I got to my car to get to practice, sat in the seat, and fell asleep. Woke up about 30 minutes later and just abandoned the idea of running this morning. I don't know what's up with me. I get 8-9 hours of sleep every night!

PM- 15 warm, 25 cool, 10x200s (goal: 35). Chill workout. Just pretty much have us an idea of race pace while being on the track. Pretty easy. Forgot to mention I saw Tanner Sharp from DH at the temple yesterday so that was kewl.

AM- got to the school at about 7:40 to get minutes in before the race cause we had 80 minutes today. I ran 45 down the normal morning run route to the TownPlace Suites Marriott. Then I warmed up with some of the guys for a little bit and got 60 in before the race total.

Race- got out pretty quick but Nick was too fast! He had gotten rid of us all by the end of the first mile. Me, Jason, and Andrew stayed together for the first half or so then me and Jason gapped Andrew a little bit. Jason's hip started to hurt so he dropped early as not to injure himself. Stayed pretty much by myself the rest of the time and ended at approximately 17:05. Nothing too killer, didn't feel all out. Good way to get the LT in today.

AM- We all met at Jake's house then drove out to Warner Valley. Did an easy run out on the trails for 81 minutes and got 10.5 miles total. We had a dispute about Zion National Park. Coach and some of the uneducated guys think it's called Zion Canyon... When really it's Zion's Canyon! Cause of like possessives? Am I right?! After that, we took turns riding the parts of the trail that went up...? What're they called? The guys know what I'm talking about. I ran up the rainbow one. We flipped it at the giant dirt hills. On the way back we reminisced about when Nick did that one thing on that tempo that one time and also we played follow the leader as Nick taught us all a bunch of dance moves.  In case anybody wants one, I'll be selling homeknit p-beanies for 10 dollars. Coach wore his America shorts which were a bit revealing, but Andrew was okay with that. Happy President's Day!

AM- 4 miles easy. Met at the school at 6:15 and we did the normal route. Nothing kewl happened today except that Andrew was dying of laughter for no apparent reason and also he still hasn't gotten his car back even though he told us all that he would like 2 weeks ago. Listened to smooth jazz on the way home because I forgot to pack a lunch... I have a dentist appointment today and I'm so scared. I inspected my teeth as well as my hideous face like 50 times this morning checking for cavities and specks of good lookingness. I found neither. Oh man I hate the dentist...

I have a small cavity in my back right molar and need a filling... Why do bad things happen to good people?

PM- 2 mile warm, 1.5 cool, 4x1600s @ 87% (goal: 5:25 hit: 5:28, 5:25, 5:20, 5:21), 2x300s (goal: :44 hit: :45, :44). Felt pretty crumby today but was able to hit these pretty decently! I have already started enjoying workouts more this season than last season. And I've been hitting them a lot more accurately than last year too! It's all in the attitude change. Jason's taking this week off of workouts so I was pretty much by myself (Nick has a faster time, Andrew, Jake, and Dallen are just 6 or 7 seconds behind me though. Cam, Paul, and Skylar do 1000s. Alex sat this one out for some reason). Can't wait to race! Just gotta keep it positive and see what happens! I've never been legitimately this excited for track season! I wanna beat Connor Baller.

Prerace: had a nice bagel and banana before heading to the start line. Got there about 30 minutes early so I waited a while before warming up for about 5 minutes.

Race- 3, 2, 1, go! And there we went! My 2nd half marathon. got out pretty quick with Andrew, Alex, Kade, some older dude, and Jake. That group, by mile 3 or so, was taken down to just me, Andrew, Kade, and the older dude. Andrew and Kade fell off at mile 5ish (first 10k was 36 minutes according to the older guy). Him and I worked really well together and closed the gap on PI dude and Nick! By Sullivan Park (mile 7??) we were only meters behind! We stayed that way for a mile or so then I saw coach start to run with Nick. I quickly surged up there, with older guy and PI guy just meters behind. Coach really helped keep me focused. I knew I was sitting in 2nd because Aaron Metler was the only guy in front of our group, but I didn't let that get me nervous. Coach left us at the bottom of Majestic and I started to gap Nick a little bit, to the point where I was in great 2nd place position by the top! Nick had a killer last mile though and ended up catching me and gapping me by 14 seconds by the end. We left those older guys in the dust though! And I was able to come in 3rd overall! I have a giant check for 100 dollars, but unfortunately I could not accept the prize money, as I am a high school runner. I hate dumb rules! Pretty cool to have 2 PV guys in the top 3!! AM- 2 miles warm, KOSMIN! Short cool down. me, Cam, Paul, and Dallen did this this morning because we're going up to the 3A Basketball state tourney this afternoon! Paul and Cam did a 2x1:00 Kosmin and Dallen and I did 4x1:00. Wanted to break 1500 meters, and was right on track after the first 2, but fell off pace the last 2. I hit 1480 meters. For those of you who do not know what a Kosmin is, it is an anaerobic workout which helps you find out your pace for the regular day-to-day workouts. On the track, you go 1:00 all out, jog for 3:00, start where you finished the first one at, go 1:00 all out, jog for 2:00, start where you finished the second one, go all out 1:00, jog for 1:00, all out for 1:00 from where you finished the 3rd one. Measure how far you went on all 4 combined.

Lunchtime: went out 30 minutes with Cam and Paul before heading up north. Did an epic route around the mall and Harts and such. Got some "hollas", unfortunately all of which were from my grandma.

AM- Ran 50 minutes w/10 progression AT-LT. I ran in Murray with Cam and Paul and it felt really nice this morning! We made our way to Hillcrest High and ran on their track for a few laps then did the tempo. We were successful at hitting the right times, but we were supposed to go longer. I don't think I was going to be able to hit it for any longer so we dropped out 5 minutes early. Ready for the 3A State Game! Pine View vs Dixie!! The DHells vs Dixie game last night was so epic and I feel bad for anybody who wasn't there! Ended in QUADRUPLE overtime!

AM- 4 miles easy. PV BASKETBALL STATE CHAMPS. Our guys freaking deserved that shiz.

PM- 2 mile warm up, 4x1600@87% (5:21), 2x300@F (:44), 1.5 cool. Today was so tough mentally, for 1, my goal time was bumped up 4 seconds. 2, I had a crappy late lunch and dealt with an awful side ache the whole workout. I stuck through it though and was able to hit my times with my teammates! I hit 5:24, 5:21, 5:22, 5:16. Super great times, but it wasn't easy. Helped to run in a bigger group. I had Andrew, Dallen, Mitch, and Alex to run with and those guys are a great push! 300s were okay. :45 then :44. Not too shabby but still aiming for 2 44s!

Fun fact: I have had nothing but successful Monday 1600 workouts ever since January when we started. This is a good sign that I'm ready to take it to the next level in my racing.

BLOG BEAST OF THE DAY goes to Sarah! (Sarah Sargent) for running more mileage today than me haha! Plus she's a flipping beast from East.

AM- 4 miles easy. Cold out and sprinkling.

PM- Beast 8 mile run with the team. Had to explain to Dallen what "tap dat" meant (because he kept on saying it!), Andrew was having some chafing problems, Nick almost exploded... Twice! I won the Olympic 3200 in lane 8. Aw man today was just so eventful! We ran up Mount Everest Hill as we gazed upon the beautiful Pine Valley Mountain! Jake told me a funny joke. Strides after with some tag. I lost cause Paul only went after me:/ my feet nearly froze off during the barefoot strides though and that was painful. Beast and Feast afterwards with the team!

took the ACT today and idk about it this time... Hoping for a 30 (got 28 last time), but I'll update you guys in a few weeks or so about how I did!

BLOG BEAST OF THE DAY goes to Holt for being a huge renob. Also for being my coach and running with us on the 1600s yesterday! And for making us remember that we need to bless the sacrament on Sunday.

AM- woke up and found my alarm had not been set. Luckily it was 6:30 and I still had time to go out. So I just ran up at the dirt (mud) mile.

PM- 10x400s@1600 R pace (70). Did this during 4th period by myself because I had to go to Desert Hells after school to play some hardcore classical music. I hit 71, 70, 70, 70, 69, 69, 69, 69, 68, 68. Not a bad workout. Took my heart rate before 4, 7, and 10. They were 134, 140, then a heaping 155 BPM! Idk how I'm even supposed to help get that down... Anybody know? It was tough cause the home stretch was a pretty hard headwind. Still was able to push through and had a great workout. Also I took my shirt off after the 6th one and that really helped me push. I feel bad for girls who won't be able to experience shirtless running... Maybe that's why guys are faster?

BLOG BEAST OF THE DAY goes to Sarah Spiro for her beast ability to run fast and her legit tempo today. Check her out.

AM- 4 miles easy Morning Route. It was pretty good and felt really nice this morning. Only like 5 guys showed up this morning to run though so that was disappointing. I can't talk though, because I accidentally didn't show up yesterday.

PM- 6 miles easy (Foremaster so not really easy ;)) then 4x200 on the track hard. Good prerace run today. Doing the 3200 at the Hurricane All-Comers tomorrow. Not a big meet at all and not even a qualifier, but I'm still excited to see what I can do! Got new track jerseys today and let's just say silver is not my color ;) but they're dope.

AM- 4 miles easy

PM- lots of warm up, 3200 (10:21), 4x400 (4:08, 60 split), like half a lap cool. The 3200 was kind of sad cause all the other teams had left by then and the only guys actually racing were Nick, Jake, Mitch and I. We just switched leads every lap for the first 5 then me and Nick switched lead every 200 the 6th lap then the rest was just nick up front. Not really stressed that it wasn't that fast because it didn't feel like a race effort or even a race environment. 4x400 right after with Andrew, Jake, and Seth. We took 4th.

AM- 2 mile warm, 4x1600@87% (5:21), 2x300, .75 cool. Did this in the morning because SPRING BREAK! Our group consisted of me, Jake, Andrew and Alex, but it was soon evident after we started that it would just pretty much be me and Andrew. First one was a 5:20 and we were already breathing way hard! I honestly thought it would not end up well, but Andrew and I did a great job pushing and switching leads and we ended up going (5:20), 5:21, 5:20, 5:18. Probably the hardest workout (effort wise) I've had in a while. Idk if it's because it's morning coming straight off of a weekend or what, but I'm glad I was able to stick in there. Feeling good about how I've been running lately.

PM- 4 miles easy Dirt Mile at 3:15. Went on a date with Macey and played some Pickleball, had some sandwiches and went to gosnow and that was fun... Especially cause SHE asked ME and payed for everything.

Wow turns out I have 102 monthly views! I'd like to thank all my fans as well as my coach Holt for being kewl and winning a 30k on Saturday for me.

BLOG BEAST OF THE DAY goes to my main bro Controversial Cam for his beast 1000s this morning! He puts out a Controversial topic every day for everyone to discuss and usually it's really dope. Check his blog out.

AM- 8 miles easy and 1 mile of striders. Pretty nice day and everyone was doing well until Skylar tried to jump over a 3 foot tall chain, got his foot caught, slammed to the ground, and broke his watch! And to top it all off, Katelyn was there to see it all haha! Going to Cedar at about noon to help my grandpa pick up his new truck, resulting in us 'buying' his old one! ALSO! I was dubbed, by Grandmaster Chiva Alex the Lion, the Stallion Chiva! And just like that, I'm officially part of the Desert Chivas.

Almost forgot, I also saved Skylar's life by pushing him out of the way of an incoming vehicle. Not Skylar's best day.

Also I've decided that AA is the cutest high school runner in all of Utah. She's just wow.

PM- 4 miles easy Dirt Mile again. It was SO fricken hot today, even in my white Lone Peak "Run Like a Champion Today" shirt I was sweating pretty good. Approximately 80degrees Found a legit neon golf ball up there though so that was cool. I'll show anyone who wants to see it.

BLOG BEAST OF THE DAY goes to Rachelle just cause she's a dope runner and also runs with pregnant ladies so that's kewl.

AM- 12x400 @kosmin 1600 pace (1:10), 2:00 rec, w/2 miles warm and 1.5 cool. Hit 1:09 and 1:10 for all of them. Really tiring workout. It's supposed to simulate the last or 3rd lap of the 1600. Ran with Andrew, Alex, and Mitch, with Nick just a few seconds ahead. Can never breath very well in the morning, but was able to run pretty well! Hit the weight room after and I'm swoller than ever.

Going to Zion later. Any recommendations for "family-friendly" hikes? If not, we were just gonna hit Observation Point and Emerald Pools...

PM- 4 miles easy Dirt Mile! For those of you who don't know the dirt mile, that's too bad. It's pretty much just a dirt loop that's a mile long. Don't like how people drive up on it though cause it rained a while back and it's all messed up on the finishing stretch! There's also a palm tree graveyard on it and a gateway to the desert! It's so freaking dope. Today's run was pretty quiet and it feels good out there. I like the overcast today.

BLOG BEAST OF THE DAY goes to Alex the Lion! He's a freaking dope freshman who's pretty dang quick. Also, he had a good 400 workout today with me. He mentioned on his yesterday that I saved Skylar so that was nice of him. Check out his blog he's beast

Ugh this is so embarrassing... 8:45... Just woke up... Missed practice... Going down to Hell Hole on my own to do some hills...

AM- Hell Hole Hills 4x1:00, 6x:30. Did about double recovery for all of them. Felt great about how I ran! Went farther on each one of the 1:00 and even hit pretty far up the dirt part on the last one. The 30 second ones were all pretty much at the same finishing spot except the last 2 I went balls to the wall. Especially the last one because there was some lady walking up the hill who I had to impress so I made it about 5 meters farther on the sixth one. Added on a bit in my neighborhood to make it 60 minutes total.

PM- 4 miles easy Dirt Mile. BLAZING hot today or maybe I was just so dehydrated but I was sweating so bad! Wish I lived up north. Somebody is absolutely demolishing  the dirt mile and I don't like it! Running on it is my fav past time. Very nostalgic. Dwight Schrute said it best: "Nostalgia is one of the human's greatest weaknesses. Second only to the neck."

BLOG BEAST OF THE DAY goes to freakitypopo! He had a beast tempo worthy of this great honor! Go check him out he's wicked fast

Banged my knee on a hitch a few feet from a ditch. It was really quite rich until it started to itch coulda sworn it was a witch who decided to bewitch my patella. I would want to switch this experience with a baseball pitch to my fingers from my dear teammate Mitch. Seriously my knee's starting to twitch which makes me feel like a glitch. Hopefully this won't interfere with my running niche. Now I'll continue watching Lilo and Stitch.

AM- 15 minute AT-LT progression (5:40-5:10). Did pretty well. Didn't quite hit LT by the end but was still a good push. Started at the top of parkway and then did a pretty much all downhill run for the tempo (down hell hole through Sullivan park). Since these tempos are what I struggle with, the downhill benefitted me well and allowed me to run strongly, good day all together. Hit the rest of the run pretty slow.

PM- 2 miles warm, 1 cool, 4x1600s@87% (5:21), 2x300 (:44). Today was SO FREAKING HOT!!! Like mid-80s. I was ill prepared for it... First one was good at a 5:20, but I was sweating bad. 2nd was a 5:22 still good. 3rd one about halfway through I started to get a headache which never went away the rest of the workout. Hit 5:27 on that one. The headache started pounding so hard in my brain on the last one and I couldn't take it anymore so I dropped out at the 800 at 2:41. First 300 was :46 and on the last 300 I decided I would hit my time if I died. So I went and hit a high :44. Gotta recommit during workouts more often. Not my best day, but everyone has off days. I'm resilient though so I'm not too worried about it. Weights after.

PM- 2 mile warm, 6x800@goal 3200 pace (2:29) w/2:00 recovery, cool to 50 minutes. This was a fun workout! It wasn't easy, but I was able to hit my time on all 6. Just a proof of my resiliency from Monday's workout. The last one was even a 2:25! As always, Andrew, Jake, Alex, Mitch and Dallen were all there hitting the times good too. They're all looking strong! On the cool down, coach tried assassinating me while I was salutating Triple-B.. I almost died.

PM- 4x1600 87% w/3:00 rec, 2x300 F, 2 warm, 1 cool. Really showed my resiliency through this workout after a really really bad weekend. The thing is I just gotta learn from this weekend so it doesn't happen again. Anyways it was a really great workout! Hit my best times yet. 5:18, 5:19, 5:19, 5:17. Pretty dang hard because of the heat and such, plus it was just Jake and I on the last one, but we were able to man through it and it ended up going really well for us. Jake and I switched leads on the last one on every 200 and that helped keep us focused. 300s were :45s. Weights afterwards, and I'll call that a day!

BLOG BEAST OF THE DAY goes to Blake Bennion for his awesome confidence and great races/workouts. This dude really is quite the hard worker and it really pays off for him.

AM- 4 miles easy Starbucks. Felt nice this morning, but Andrew wasn't there to ask what everyone had for dinner so that was a bust... I really wanted to know!

PM- 2 miles warm/cool, 6x800 @3200 goal pace (2:29) w/120 beat recovery (1-2minutes). Really great workout and it didn't seem too hard. I went 2:30, 2:29, 2:29, 2:28, 2:28, 2:28. Had a great group of me, Andrew, Dallen, Jake, Mitch, and Alex! Nobody had an off day today and it was great. Now just gotta do this in a race and I'll be set for state! Little bit of weights after, but I couldn't stay long cause I had to get home to go to dinner :P

Retook the APUSH unit 7 test and I'm feeling I'm borderline this time! Last time I got a 17 when I needed an 18 to pass. Also speaking of APUSH, I coulda got my first kiss in that class today! But sadly there were no volunteers...

BLOG BEAST(S) OF THE DAY goes to all the Desert Hellians for their awesome races in Chandler, Arizona. They all did freaking beast, and Tuba City ran a 9:27 or something so that is dope!

AM- 4 miles easy with the dudes! PV invite is coming up tomorrow! Running the 3200 on Saturday morning and it's gonna be fun! Fun fact, PV is the biggest high school hosted meet in Utah! Currently, there are 71 boys signed up for the 3200, but it will be above 100 boys in it! Josh Collins being among the fastest. It's gonna be awesome!

PM- 6 miles easy w/4x200 finishes. TODAYS RUN WAS SO FREAKING DOPE! Did the shoe run route (which includes us doorbell ditching the Ellsworths). We stopped at the park for a second to let some people release their bowels when Bryan had the bright idea to go and catch a duck! He ran up to one and just picked it up, it started to freak out so he chucked it in the air and it started to fly/fall and it slammed into the concrete sidewalk. Luckily it's okay and Bryan probably has herpes now. Also there was a dead fish in the pond so we decided to put it in a bag we found and leave it as a present when we doorbell ditched. So that was dope and we did not get caught. In Sandberg's, as we were running around the spawn of Marlar, Mitch got knocked up (stung) by one of his bee minions and he was yelling loudly out of pain the whole rest of the run. Luckily he's okay now, but I gotta admit it was pretty funny.

BLOG BEAST OF THE DAY goes to Definition Dallen cause he has found his calling in life: saying words that he has no idea what they mean. Also he's a beast buddy of mine and we're workout buddies and he's freaking fast and awesome so check out his blog!

PM- 6 miles around the stadium area "girl scouting". Man gotta say either the Orem or Parawon girls win! Also I found a few quality East specimens and also a Lehi girl who was fine! Other then that.... PV INVITE DOPE STUFF! Josh Collins won the mile with 4:16.21 and broke the meet record. The high jumpers went flipping high! Everything was great today and I'm stoked for the 3200 tomorrow! I'm in the fast heat so that's kewl!

Race- warmed up DI loop with Dallen, Jake, and Mitch, then did some fartleks on the track. Put our spikes on and did some strides, then said a quick prayer then we got lined up. I was seeded 22nd with the 10:10 that coach put me in at, and there were 28 guys in the heat, 15 guys sub-10 going into it. It was an alley start and I got stuck on the very end of the last one! Which was okay. The race started and I got into a good position in the middlish of the pack. First lap was like a 1:13, the first mile was pretty uneventful, but going into the mile, Jake and Mitch were both pretty close which was good. 4:56. The Desert Hells guys started to make a move going into lap 6 so I decided I would stick with them as long as I could. We passed Spencer from Dixie as well as a few other dudes, but both Tanner and Bryson beat me. Finished with a HUGE PR of 9:56. I'm stoked because I hit state qualifying and now I get to show all I got at state! I'm so freaking excited.

Blog Beast Honorable Mentions: Connor Baller (first JR (4th overall?) as well as a 9:38 which is freaking quick, also won AA), Hell Raiser (State qualify/5 sec PR of 4:25 in the 1600), Model-T (3rd JR 9th overall 9:50), Holt (for running the best meet ever which was right on schedule the whole time), and Mitchell Price (PR in the 3200 with a 10:07)

BLOG BEAST OF THE DAY goes to BrysonKing for his DHells freshman record in the 3200 with a 9:52 I think. That dude is a freaking beast.

PM- 8 miles w/2x(2:00 hard, :30 rec, 1:00 hard, :30 rec, :30 hard) just to get the legs moving. I felt good today and was feeling pretty strong on the fartleks so that was good. We ran to Nick's house so he could open up his ACT score and he got a flipping 31! Then we ran to BrYan's house to open up his, but it hadn't come yet. We then made our way to Sullivan Park, then Mosquito Trail back to the school. It was a good day.

ACT scores came back today and I ended up with a 30 cumulative.

Haha it was an awesome run, to say the least. This was in preparation for the meet at the Hells tomorrow and Thursday. I'm doing the 1600 and then the 4xmile depending on if other teams enter.

AM- 4 miles easy with the dudes. Pretty nice this morning. Running the 3200 later at the Hells. Can't wait cause all the Hells guys are doing it!

PM- Race. Did the 3200 at the Hells and that was pretty fun, although racing against those guys is so freaking weird. They like to start out slow and speed up every lap, which is not like how I like to run, which is even splits. We opened up in a 1:17! It was way too slow. I never really got into good position either. I ended up passing all of my teammates by the end, but the 4 Hells guys were in front of me. I was hoping to PR today, but I'll get it next time for sure. Gotta work on not being afraid to get up there and go with them. At least I know I can start with them. AM- 2 mile warmup, 4x1600@2x91%, 2x93%, 2x300@F, cool to 60 minutes. Really tough workout, but debatebly my best workout ever. All 4 of these were with Definition Dallen, Jake the Snake, BicMitchem and Alex the Lion, but Dallen and I were the ones leading this workout. First one was a 5:14 (right on 91%), and I was already getting sidestitches. I prayed for forgiveness for all the candy I ate yesterday. Must have worked because I felt great the rest of the workout. Went 5:14 again for the next one. Then we had to do 93% for the last 2 which I haven't even attempted yet in a workout so I was a little wary. Dallen and I switched lead for each lap and that workoed out great. 5:07 (right on 93%). The last one, we came by 800 at 2:31 and so I knew we had it in the bag. Pushed a hard last 200 to a 5:06. My legs haven't felt this beat since the long hill at XC camp last summer! 300s were both :45 (maybe :44 for the second, didn't watch it). Hard to believe 5:18s felt all-out a few weeks ago!

PM- 4 easy Dirt Mile again. Nice peaceful, not even hot, run. It did get a little windy by the end, which I didn't even mind much. Got out kind of early (like 2). Legs were tired from this morning.

Did some warmup with the guys along with a full-on run after the 3200. Had a pretty hard time last night after the awful 1600, just reflecting on what happens in my races when I do bad and I couldn't think of anything. Recieved good advice from Holt and also some stuff from coach Blair from SC and Fielding from DH. The race today was better than yesterday and that's a step in the right direction. This was just a bad ending to a frankly amazing week of workouts. Just gotta change my perspective of the race. Change it from something that gives me stress to something that puts me in the eye of the tiger! I am in no way the best racer in region 9, but I'm not going to stop trying to get there, and just maybe I'll figure it out one of these days. Just gotta keep on keeping on. It happens.

PM- 2 miles warm, 1x1000@goal 1600 pace, 7x400@current 1600 pace w/1:00 recovery, cool to 60 minutes, felt really so freaking hot today, but I had prepared myself to run pretty quick and I pushed myself hard despite the heat. My 1000 was 2:48. Went out pretty fast on the first 400 (like 1:05), stuck in behind Andrew until there were 400 meters left and then just went ALL TO THE WALL the last 400. Actually a 1000 PR, but I never run it anyways haha. and my 400s were all around 1:10 or 1:11, last one 1:08. Was able to make it through hitting all of my times. From Holt on Mon, Apr 13, 2015 at 21:25:21 from 67.2.224.154

Rob, I really like this workout. It is kind of a combo that proves to the kids that they can hit the times they are gunning for as we move near the final phase of the season. The goal pace 1000 (or 600 for 800 runners) gets them burned and really moving. Then the 400's (or 300) at current pace prove to them they can finish off what they had started with the shape they are currently in. I didn't let the team know how many 4's they had just to make them dig deep and run on some heart. Then I let them know on their last as they were about to start and told them to give it a bit more. I think it not only works multiple systems, but gives them confidence in what they can do currently and in the future.

AM- 4 miles easy Sunrise. Felt so dang warm this morning! Last night, my knee started absolutely bugging me, hard to sleep. Woke up this morning and it hurt even more, decided to run on it and now it hurts when I walk or even move my leg. Hopefully this isn't anything big. It's just really annoying

PM- 2 mile warm around DI, Coe#1or1x(100,110,120,130,140,150,160,170,180,190,200), cool to 45 minutes. This is a workout founded by Sir Sebastian Coe back in the days of Moses, when the only olympic event was sprinting from the dinosaurs. It's pretty much just used to sharpen our speed as it nears time to taper. We start easy peasy at 1600 pace on the 100, then speed up on each one until we are all out 400 pace on the 200. My 100 was 17.5, but then my 200 was high 28. The workout is not necessarily hard, but it gets the legs moving for sure. Still kind of winded from yesterdays workout though. Knee still hurts, but didn't bug me during the workout, I cannot tell a lie.

BLOG BEAST OF THE DAY goes to the freaking high windspeeds in St. George today. JV meet at Hurricane was cancelled because of it. Luckily our workout was with the wind and not against.

AM- Morning Workout!! 1.5 warm, 6x800@goal3200(2:28), cool to 52ish minutes. The team got together for a morning workout today because we won't have time in the afternoon to get one in because of the elementary meet. It was still a little windy out and it was chipper out there, so I'd say give or take a second or 2. Ran 2:30 for the first 4, 2:28, then 2:27. These weren't impossibly hard, but my legs are tired from the workouts yesterday and Monday. It was doable today. Not a bad workout!

AM- 4 miles easy Starbucks! Pretty nice run this morning. They're putting a fence in by the cliff so the guys can no longer threaten to push me down.

PM- 6 miles easy w/4x200s. Pretty fun run today. We decided to do the shoe run and ended up finding some not quite as cool objects as usual. We did, however, find a cow bone out in Sandbergs! So that was cool.

BLOG BEAST OF THE DAY goes to Collin Morrison. Yet another Lehi guy is on the blog. There just might be more of them than frequent PV guys on here now. Also they're all decently fast!

Dixie 3200 Race Preview! So this year, it's looking to be a pretty good race. As of right now, there are 7 sub-10 guys signed up, along with Sage Ducote, who ran a 9:44 in AZ. We have Ben Keller, Hellen Keller's brother, from Ogden. Region 9 track is being represented greatly, with a total of 30 region 9 runners and only 9 from other regions. All inserted times are legitimate, with the exception of Nephi Eschler, 9:45. Also we have Joe Bradshaw from Parowan, who used to go to Washington Elementary with me and my main man Paul. I'm going out to PR on Saturday and boost my confidence with my running. Luckily I have all of these fast guys in the race to help push me to my limits. Gonna get some more PV state qualifiers! Jake, Mitch, Andrew, and Dallen all have a legitimate chance! I'm rooting for those guys.

PM- 7 miles off and on at the meet. Our guys all looked strong in the 1600, no more qualifiers yet though. Nick and Paul killed the 400 and went 1, 2 in their heat. I pretty much just warmed up with the guys, ran as they were prepping/racing, and then cooled down with them until I had 50 minutes. Got some striders in afterwards and I felt strong on those which is a really good sign for tomorrow. 3200 BABY!!

RACE- Warmed up quite a bit on the track before the girl's heats started, then ran a bunch on the turf. Got myself prepared to run fast, then we started the race. I was seeded 4 going into it and that's how I finished. Not a PR, but it was my second fastest ever. The first mile was pretty chill and I was with the rest of the PV guys as well as Sage from DH, Jaiden, Josh, Bronco, and Spencer were all ahead of us. I caught up to Spencer with a surge and he would not give up the whole rest of the race. It was a battle. We passed Bronco lap 6 and we were just making great progress. The last lap, however, he outfought me and got me by 2 seconds. Sage from DH was just right behind me. Pretty good race with some good things to take out of it. Still no more PV state qualifiers for guys, but they're all so dang close. This was a good day, but I'm going to be able to run it even faster come championship time. I CANT WAIT FOR STATE

BLOG BEAST OF THE DAY goes to Alli Peterson because she's pretty dope and blogged for the first time in like a year yesterday. One of PV's fastest girls and she's only getting better.

AM- 4 easy Sunrise. Took it a little easier today because coach was feeling sick and we had to leave him behind ;)

PM- 2 miles warm, 3x1600@93%, 2x300@F, 10 minutes cool. Had a late lunch today because of early out at school. REALLY messed up my stomach and insides were killing the whole warmup, I could barely breathe. So I said a prayer when we got back that I would have the strength to run the workout. Our goal for the day was 3 5:01s. It was some sort of miracle, but I started out great and hit the time right on: 5:01. The next one, I was really considering a forced puke, but decided against it. Went out pretty well, but crossed the first 800 too slow like 2:35, then finished 5:11 way off, but still WAY faster than I thought I would be able to today with the way I was feeling. Coach told us to only go as long as we can stay on pace on the last one and I made it 1200 meters when I was 2 seconds off: 3:47. I might have been able to actually hit it, but idk I was too tired to care haha! I consider this workout a success, and I ran pretty quick times, just not quite where I was aiming. Step in the right direction. 300s were faster than usual too! :44s.

PM- got to practice and did warmups and then coach had a sick surprise for everyone who has qualified for state: a dope PV track duffel! It makes it all worth it;)

2 miles warm, 10x400s@68-69seconds w/decreasing recovery (2:00 for the first 3, 1:30 for the second 4, 1:00 for the last 3. Gotta say, my legs were not feeling very great, but I was still able to hit 68s and 69s the whole time. Never went under or over. Took me a while to get into it, but the legs started getting into it by the end. The decreasing recovery was killer. Excited to run the 1600 this weekend at SC and finally get myself a solid time.

AM- 4 miles easy usual route. It was a very nice time having coach with us this morning. I was accused of being a full-blown racist afterwards so that was kewl.

PM- 60 minutes EASY w/striders. Drove to Highland park to help out the Running Center deliver flyers about the Southern Utah Half coming up to all the houses on the ridge. That was pretty fun, then we ran up on the ridge forever, out on the far side as well as to the water tower, then we went to the park and got a barefoot mile in, then we did some barefoot striders. Pretty fun day today. I have to kiss a girl before Jake. Or at least before the summer is over. This time it's going to actually work... Last time was a wreck.

On a seperate note, I've been thinking a lot about the spiritual aspect of running lately. I'm well aware of the physical and mental parts, but just recently I have started thinking about how it touches my soul and how I use it to come closer to God (k maybe not in a lot of easy runs like today, but I definitely do in races and workouts). Thought about Phillippeans 4:13 that says I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. I think this includes things like running PRs and pushing through tough workouts and stuff like that. And the spiritual aspect doesn't even have to be religious. It can effect your feelings and your morals and really just everything about you. Dang.

AM- 1.5 warm, Coe 2, cool to 45 minutes. Coe 2 is a progressive workout where you start at mile pace on the first rep and end with 400 pace on the last rep. The reps are (in meters) 200, 220, 240, 260, 280,300. I went :34, :36, :38, :39, :42, :44. My legs felt particularly nice this morning and it didn't feel like it was very killer. Hit my times right on and am ready for the 1600 tomorrow! Afterwards, as we were going to cool down, I banged my shin and it hurt like a motha. And now it still hurts like a motha.

AM- 20 minutes easy. Starting to cut down mileage a lot this week so we're doing 20 minutes instead of 30 in the mornings. We are not going to BYU Invite this year, which was my favorite meet last year, but we're going to Herriman instead, which should be fun! Twilight meet:)

PM- 1.5 warm, kosmin, 1x(300, 200, 100), 10 minute cooldown. Pretty fast day today and the kosmin went okay up until the end. For those of you who don't know what the kosmin is, it is an anaerobic workout where you go all out for 1 minute, rest 3, all out 1, rest 2, all out 1, rest 1, all out 1. You take your total distance that you make it in those four minutes of time and plug it into some equation. you can use that to find out what mile time you should base your workouts off of. I did great the first 2 minutes, making it about 800 meters, but the shortened recovery killed me on the last 2 and especially the 4th one. Ended at 1511m, which isn't too bad, but my last minute was unacceptable. We then had a F pace 300, 200 and 100. I hit :44, :28.06, and :13.9.

AM- 20 minutes easy Arby's. Felt nice this morning and had a pretty good turnout. Won't be able to go to watch the JV meet because of a concert, but oh well.. It happens.

PM- 40 minutes w/4x60sec F. Felt nice to get in some more F paced work. today was just me and Jason, seeing as how everyone else went up to the meet. Was nice to talk with good ole J-Word Jason about crap and stuff, and it was fun running a workout with just him... Seeing as how I don't get to run workouts with him very often because he does the 800 workouts. We did these really hard and helped push each other very well. Near the end of the run, Abrie Taylor drove by and yelled out the window how hawt we are and fast and good looking and cute. She's a freaking babe. I wouldn't mind taking her out for some pizza... (I have a free Little Caeser's pizza coupon, no purchase necassary, that Wes Swaney gave me at the track meet at Snow Canyon... What a guy!)

Excited for Herriman this week. Gonna go throw down a 3200 faster than I've ever gone before. That one dude from Bear River will be there as well as a bunch of guys from 4A and 5A schools so it should be good. I'll be right in the mix.

PM- 1.5 warm, 1x1000@1600goal, 1x(300,200,100). Just a nice workout to get the legs moving quick. The 1000 was alright, but it could have been way better: 2:50. Nobody was brave enough to go with me and help to push (because all the guys who are used to running 1000s ran a 600). I don't think my crew realizes how fast it is and was supposed to be. 300 was :45.6x, 200 was :28.8x, 100 was 13.9x. Not the fastest of times, but it was a nice push. Getting ready for region! Not quite sure what I'm doing yet, I have some choices to make.

Good way to start the day, but I'm really bugged that the guys don't recognize me as the lone inventor of the Water Bottle+Tennis Ball (a beast dope game) and that Gatorade Bottle+Orange is a knockoff that isn't even half as fun... Also nobody believed me that I got 38 on my test instead of 37 and that the scantron just messed it up.

PM- 3.2 miles w/4x200s. Felt not that hot today because of the storms. 200s were nice and I tried to visualize region. The Pine View Championships youngster meet was today. Landon (my bro) won the 100 in his age group with a close call against Horspool. He brings honor to the Warby name.

LIVE UPDATE: For those of you who have seen me with my shirt off, you know I have had this "thing" growing on me for the past couple of months. It has created an internal conflict between myself when wanting to run shirtless. So this afternoon, I was contemplating state (as well as this "thing") and so I decided that I was brave and had to conquer my fears on the track as well as on my body. (Here's where it gets grusome. DO NOT READ ON IF YOU ARE PRONE TO NOT LIKING GROSS THINGS): I took my nail clippers, situated the "thing" in between the blades, counted to three, and pushed as hard as I could. It did not work and it did nothing but make it bleed uncontrollably. I then decided it was now or never. I could run with my shirt on forever or destroy the beast! So I situated my nails on either side of the "thing" and I yelled and pulled as hard as I could. It ripped off! Blood EVERYWHERE! It is gone. I should hopefully have nothing but a small scab for a couple days and then back to normal. Just goes to show that you can conquer your fears and everything that is holding you back.

RACE- Warmed up on the Ted Bundy trail and started to get read for the race. Got over there and the bull pen had a heater so I didn't want to leave! But we left and the race started. The first mile was fine and there was a big group, but then all of a sudden the leaders slowed down a ton on the 5th lap and nobody would take the lead, and since I'm not known to have the best of kicks, I took it for about a lap to see if I could do anything. Turned out to not be too much to my advantage, but I was seeded 13th and finished 10th which was good. I would like to bet I could've ran better if I was more confident. I more had the mentality of I was just happy to be there racing, but I probably should have been more in it and actually tried to really really push myself. Only 2 of the finishers ahead of me were seniors. Just shows how competitive things will be in this upcoming year. Can't wait for summer practice! We might even do a few workouts with the Hells I've heard so that will be way fun. Honestly, I like having fun with running. I may not be the fastest (yet), but I sure do enjoy running with the guys who are.

Taking a few weeks off of running before summer practice starts up. This summer is going to be a time of intense growth for me. Everybody better watch out because PV is stacking up. We're gonna work our butts off and hopefully reap a nice reward. I have so much fun in this sport and I enjoy the growth I've had in my running. I'm only going to get better from here.

Haven't blogged in a week seeing as how I haven't been running, but I thought I'd give a little bit of a life update! Last week of school was this week and I got SOOO many signatures in my yearbook... Jk it was all XC/track kids.

A couple days ago I went to fiesta fun to cash in all my excess tickets (like 550) and spend it all on those little frooties... Only to find out they only let you get 100! So I spent the rest on stupid laffy taffys which cost 5 tickets more than frooties! It's SO stupid.

Been hanging out with Skylar and such. Also I was named as a captain for this upcoming XC season! It should be an amazing year and I can't wait to see our growth as a team.

Last thing!! Abrie Taylor asked me for my number which made my week! She's pretty cute.

No running again today because I'm still on my 2 week break between Track and XC, but a bunch of the team met up at Sullivan to bike, but the only guys who showed up were me and Mitch (fun fact, we're also the only ones who wore helmets, but Josie had her hair in a giant bun so I guess that counts). So we had some great banter on our own and we talked about life and such (with the girls far behind). When we got back to the park, the girls were sitting on the grass, then right as I was about to sit down, they all left :/ too bad. Since I rode down there and back up (which was one step down from H, E, Double Hockey Sticks), I probably got a good 12 miles in.

Did ton of yard work today for the Rileys in my ward who are being kicked out of their home and they're moving to a house which hasn't been lived in in years and years. So I raked tumble weeds and pulled weeds and shoveled and moved old furniture. a

Last night I went on a date with Abrie, the same girl who asked for my number a few days ago. And I gotta say, it was pretty dang fun! She's cool. Her brother wants to do XC but he says his leg won't let him so I respected it.

AM- .5 warm, 30 minutes easy Turtle Road. Great first day of practice, woke up a little late, but made it on time. Seem to have a bunch of cool new people out this year and it should be a lot of fun! I'm excited to see everyone improve this year and accomplish their goals by coming out and having fun and working hard every day. I felt a little out of shape after no running for 2 weeks, but I did fine. We ran by a goat which started to chase us, then Bentley Bushar grabbed it's... Leash? and took it back to the Elementary school hahaha! I don't know what they did with it then... Hopefully they returned it.

Was hazed by my peers because I haven't kissed a girl... It happens... I will someday and they will all be shocked of how hot she is... Then I can haze them

Kewl Kid's Klub was today which was fun. Glad to see so many kids who want to be healthy (or their parent's want them to be healthy) and have fun! It's always a fun time.

I'M BACK! I really gotta start doing this more often cause it's fun... I have been keeping up my week report on pvxc.blogspot.com , but this is a lot more fun so I'll start doing both again.

AM- 75 minutes total w/striders. Nice pack up there today. Went out on prospector which is my favorite trail so that was a plus. Felt sick all weekend and still today am feeling congested. My ear still hasn't popped since coming down from Brian Head yesterday... Which I will report on right now!

Brian Head: Went up Friday to my grandparent's cabin on Aspen (drive or lane or street idk) and stayed until Sunday evening. Got some good 4 wheeler rides in and a couple hikes. Church yesterday was dope because they hold it in the town hall and sometimes there's only like 10 people there but this time there were like 40. Also I got to go in a T-shirt and shorts because I didn't plan on staying up so long so I didn't pack church stuff. There were also cute girls there. If anybody would like to join me, I'll be going to brian head church from now on.

PM- 4 miles easy Sunrise Tires. Felt pretty bad today because my lunch was way late (like 1:30 after I went and saw Ant Man) and that added on to my sickness so it was a little bit of a struggle towards the end and I had to give myself a minute to recover afterwards, but I was just fine.

I believe we're going to surprise a lot of people this year. Our summer has been purely mileage based and we had a great time trial yesterday (24 second split between 1st and 10th place for 2 miles with times that are pretty decent on a course like that) and we're looking pretty strong and we're working hard. Nice Run

Race: Cedar All-Comers (2.95 Miles) 00:16:24
Total Distance

AM- 4 miles easy grass. Apparently not racing today... Coach is frustrated at us for not getting it done (understandable), my parents are frustrated at me for not turning in my physical (which I did at the beginning aof the summer) and that they payed the fees through the mail and that it says we didn't... among other things. too many negative vibes today. The run was fun for the most part. Just gonna see what I can do and do what I can.

RACE- pretty decent first race. Our focus was to just group up as a team and we did pretty good at it: this was not a focus race. we had forgotten how hectic all comers races are and we found ourselves constantly passing people. Shoulda gotten out a bit faster. At one point I was trying to pass this annoying CV kid and he ran right in front of me, I backed off, tried again, this time he elbowed me, and then I tried for a 3rd time and he straight up shoved me backwords. That made me mad so I just kind of pushed him aside and surged right past him. Turns out Mitch and Jake (who were just right behind me at the time) saw this little scuffle and apparently both of them shoved this dude out too... Oh good times haha they got my back. Not sure my finishing place but I was 4th on PV. Nick, Dallen, Mitch, then me.

PM- 60 minutes with 1x(1600, 1200, 1000, 800, 400). Struggled for the first time this year. I felt so drained and my legs were dead from plyos, weights, and the heated long run yesterday. I did stay up on the 400 the whole time. Our guys did awesome at the Dixie All Comers today... Our wolf pack is so strong and Carson absolutely wrecked it!

AM- 30 minutes easy. Lots of guys there this morning and it was a fun time. According to Hell Raiser, we were going 4:40 pace the whole time so I guess you can say we're doing pretty alright. This morning's run was our race for the week haha. Can't wait for Murray next weekend. Get to race with some northern teams! Our wolf pack is ready to prey on some newbs

PM- 2x(3xminute sand hills) I did much better than last week! Stuck in the top 5 for most of them. Focused on starting off a little chiller and finishing strong

Fun Fact: Heard that the Davis JV guys went 1-26 then 28-35 in their preregion race yesterday hahaha

AM- 13 miles w/2x(1, 2, 1 fartleks) up on Brian Head. Pretty sick run on my own and I made it out to one of my favorite lookouts. Somehow, Brian Head is different than anywhere else in the world where it seems that everywhere you go is uphill both ways... Tripped on like the only downhill after I slid on some loose dirt and I scraped my knee up a little.

RACE- BHNP 2 mile. warmed up, then we went. Felt really hot today but we were able to group up well for the most part and get it done! The final stretch, I heard Andrew a little bit behind me (ended up 4 seconds ahead of him) and tried hard to catch Paul. Almost got him and he beat me by not even half a second. Pretty sick run! I was like 1 second faster than last time, but I was 5th instead of 6th. Nick ended up winning with 10:15 and that was really sick. Afterwards we had a race pace workout of 2x600s then 1x400. Wasn't too hard, so I was very successful! Our team time was a lot faster today than TT #2. Can't wait to race at Murray this weekend!!

PM- Murray Invite. #1 worst race of my XC career and it really got me shooken up. I started off pretty well, but even coach knew I was dead from the start. I had no energy and just could not get my body moving! Reminded me a lot of Herriman last year for me... Finished in a heart shattering 99th place with a gut curdling 18:15 or something like that... Not even top 10 on the team I think. It was especially disappointing because Murray was a race I was very excited to run and had visualized many times in my mind... Oh well. I may not see varsity for the next race or so, but I sure as heck am gonna keep working my tail end off and doing what I do best and show off my resiliency.

AM- State Course Race Pace Workout 2x(1min, 2min, 3min), 1x(1min, 2min). This was a purely XC race pace workout with 2 minutes recovery between each rep. I think we may have been going around 5:10-5:20 pace-ish for the whole thing. I really enjoyed this workout and, contrary to yesterday's race, ran very well and right where I needed to be. We did really well packing as a team for the most part and I'm proud of our guys. I did especially well on the 3 minute and 2 minute reps where I had more time to work my way up and even lead a couple times (Hell Raiser pulled away on a couple of them). Love the new course and can't wait to race it come October.

AM- 30 minutes usual morning run. Pretty sick with the guys. Coach and Skylar had a conflict regarding a BYU guy punching that dude in the cup.

PM- 90 minutes w/striders 2x(1, 2, 1). Pretty sick run started out pretty scary with coach VIS fainting by Harts. We ran back and drove coach's Tahoe and dropped him off at the school. Luckily that was only about 5 minutes into the run. After that we got poured on to the point where we were all blinded by the water. Irene is cool. Coach talked to us about Nebo and stuff and I'll be running JV with Jake and Jason. I'm gonna go out and try to win it. The JV race at Nebo is usually pretty quick so I'm not even mad... I'm ready for it! We made it to The Garden by Pioneer Park and then we went back by way of Starbucks. Did our fartleks at the end instead of during the first half so that was different.

PM- 15minute Tempo w/10x100/100. I struggled today. The tempo went fine until the last couple minutes I fell off a few meters and then on the 100/100 (100F pace, 100 Float pace) I just fell off a lot. I did catch Mitch on the 100/100s though. I was proud of my ability to pack up for the majority of the tempo though. It was killer hot today... Hotter than the devil's microwave in the middle of Australia in January.

RACE- Started out really behind where I wanted to be and pretty much passed the whole time until the last mile when I just fell into a rut. Got passed by probably 2 or so guys the last mile and you combine that with my bad position and it was just not the best race, still a PR for the course! Took 3rd on the team (behind Dallen and Mitch... no Nick today). TEAM won with 69 points. Right behind me was Alex, then Carson, then Skylar... I'm interested to hear who will be running at region since we have so many deserving guys... State is in my mind and I'm not letting it slip away like last year. I'm going to go and show that I deserve to be there.

We ran up the marathon course from the church by stadium 8 on the hilly trail on the side of the road before we had to be at the aid station. Nice easy run and had some good conversation with the guys... idk what I'm going to do when I don't have xc in my life anymore haha.

Marathon Aid Station 22! Pretty sick time with the team until the end when they were throwing water everywhere! It was so awesome to be able to head it up this year and it really was fun. Love those guys.

PM- PV Time Trial 4. 1600 on the track. First all out mile since track and I did pretty well! PR'd with 4:39 and it's still only XC season! Seriously can't wait for track. Got out mid pack and chilled the first lap. 1:08. Second lap I moved up a bit and was in 3rd or 4th coming into 800 meters, then Paul and I worked together the 3rd lap. Passed him coming into 400 left and gave it all I had and broke 4:40 for the first time! Awesome day. All out 200 meter after.
