PM- .5 prewarm, 1.5 warm, almost all-out mile, 1.5 cool. Felt pretty good today and ran the mile somewhat strong at a 5:02. I was kind of hoping to break 5 today but this was super great either way! It is a 30 second PR since the last time I ran a mile on the track. I treated it like a race and tried to win, but Josh came up at the end a beat me. Feel really good about this track season because of this. A lot of us were within 5 seconds of each other. In other business, I got athlete of the week today which was super cool! I don't think I deserved all the praise coach gave me because it was just 1 good race, but it was way awesome to get presented with such a high honor. We're taking our mileage way down this week for region next week and we have no weights or morning runs this week.

It may only be one race but you have to start somewhere. You can't get to two or three without passing one first. One good race will usually lead to another. Coach wants us to see just how great it feels after you've pushed through that pain to help us to learn to dare to go. That is the whole concept of athlete of the week is to show that rewards come from working hard and daring to go.
